FAQs
What can I expect at my first facial visit?
Your first visit begins with a detailed consultation and skin analysis to understand your goals, sensitivities, and current routine. Each facial is customized with professional products and techniques suited to your skin type and condition. Expect gentle exfoliation, extractions if needed, a targeted treatment mask, and massage to promote circulation and relaxation.
How often should I get a facial?
Every 4-6 weeks is ideal for maintaining results and supporting your skin's renewal cycle. Your esthetician can personalize a schedule based on your skin goals, home care, and lifestyle.
Can I get a facial if I'm breastfeeding or pregnant?
Yes—Skin + Care Esthetics offers pregnancy-safe and breastfeeding-safe options. Please let your esthetician know so your treatment can be fully customized for comfort and safety. Please also consult with your physician prior to your appointment.
Can I get a facial if I have a sunburn or recent sun exposure?
No, you will need to wait until your skin is fully healed (usually 5-7 days) to avoid irritation. If you're peeling or tender, we can schedule a calming or restorative service once your skin barrier has recovered.
I recently had cosmetic injections. How long should I wait before a facial?
You should wait at least 2 weeks after injectable treatments (like neuromodulators or filler) before receiving a facial. This allows the product to settle and prevents unwanted movement or irritation. Always confirm with your injector for their specific guidelines.
I had a laser, microneedling, or chemical peel recently -- when can I safely get a facial?
Once your skin is fully healed and no longer peeling, inflamed, or tender, typically 2-4 weeks, depending on the procedure. Always check with your provider for exact timing before scheduling.
Can I get a facial while on Accutane (isotretinoin)?
If you’re currently taking Accutane, you’ll need to wait until at least 6 months after completing your course before receiving most facial treatments. Accutane causes the skin to become highly sensitive and fragile, increasing the risk of irritation, tearing, and delayed healing. Once your skin has fully recovered, gentler facials and hydration-based treatments can be safely reintroduced with your dermatologist’s approval. If you’re on or recently finished Accutane, please disclose this when booking so your treatment can be adjusted or postponed if needed.
Can I wear makeup after a facial?
It’s best to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours so your skin can breathe and absorb the benefits of your treatment. If you must wear makeup, choose clean, mineral-based formulas and keep your brushes sanitized.
Do I need to remove my makeup before my facial?
No need, cleansing is always the first step in your facial. If you have lash extensions, steam and oil-based products will be avoided around the eye area.
Will my skin breakout or purge after I get a facial?
A mild purge can occur as congestion surfaces, especially if it’s your first treatment or you’re starting new products. This is temporary and typically subsides within a few days, revealing clearer, healthier skin underneath.
Are the products used during a facial cruelty-free?
Yes, Skin + Care Esthetics uses GlyMed+ professional skincare, Esthemax jelly masks, and other curated, cruelty-free, and results-driven brands chosen for safety, efficacy, and ingredient transparency.
How soon will I see results after a facial treatment?
You'll notice immediate softness and glow, with deeper improvements (clarity, tone, texture) building over time with consistent treatments and proper home care. Results vary and depend on the individual.
What's the best way to maintain results between visits?
Stay consistent with your recommended GlyMed Plus home care routine, protect with SPF daily, and avoid picking or over-exfoliating. Your esthetician can update your routine each season.
